National Anti Bullying Month. People who are fat, gay, transgendered, of color, of religion (there are more) all get bullied at times. Bullying runs rampant among the youth of America, and it’s our responsibility to teach kids how to handle bullying. This is one of those times.
I’ve been thinking about the local attorney who sent this message to Jennifer Livingston, who has not backed off of the message, and is basking in the attention he’s been receiving (does it surprise you that an attorney can be an attention whore?)
Here’s my message to you, sir.
Ms. Livingston is successful, and was so long before you added to her fame with your insensitive, rude, and off the mark comments. Success is not measured by a number, as Jennifer Livingston so succinctly stated in her response to you. By the way, you want to say the same thing to Oprah Winfrey?
I see from your photos that you are an athlete, good for you. Were you aware that Ms. Livingston has run triathlons? Are you aware that many fat people are fit, perhaps more fit than you? Don’t believe me, though………….Walk up to the front line of the Green Bay Packers and tell THEM what you told her. They’d likely send your little, athletic ass back home on a broken bicycle, and with broken bones.
I’m a 58 year old man who does his best to trend towards health, but recognize that not everyone can do so for many reasons. More important, you can’t look at a person and determine their level of health (or unhealth). It takes more than a visual to make a medical assessment. Oh, perhaps you’re a doctor, too.
In a world where celebrities are entering drug an alcohol rehabs on a daily basis, musicians engaging in violent acts against women, and athletes using performance enhancing drugs, you pick on someone because they’re fat?
Sir, you’ve proven the point that obesity is not the problem in America. Stupidity is.
